We use it to assess<br\/>growth rates, estimate final stature and diagnose hormonal<br\/>disorders in children.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"fb-video-wrapper\">\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F4296997577286202%2F&#038;show_text=false&#038;width=267&#038;t=0\" width=\"267\" height=\"476\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How is the test done?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An X-ray (face) of the hand and wrist (usually the left) is taken.<br\/>The radiologist then takes measurements on the linear axes of the bones, and compares<br\/>them with standard atlases to estimate the &#8220;skeletal&#8221; age, to see if<br\/>it deviates from the chronological one.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is the importance of the test?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is an important diagnostic tool in the hands of the clinician, pediatrician, or<br\/>endocrinologist, to identify various conditions and delayed or early development of<br\/>child, i.e. signs of early puberty, which<br\/>can then be treated with medication.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is a bone age radiograph?
